Undergraduate Position in Computer Science
Date Posted: Aug 16, 2007
Description: The intern will have the opportunity to design and implement code architecture for the purpose of combining related scripts into a single, modular code base. In addition, the position will offer the intern exposure to novel research in X-ray crystallographic refinement of the three-dimensional structure of proteins. Financial and/or credit-based compensation are both possible. The initial internship will be for the fall semester, with potential to extend.
Responsibilities: Convert several python scripts into a modular program in Python/C++ and assist in validation of the code through mining of biological data. Add new functionality to modular code based on results from biological analysis.
Requirements: Expertise in coding in Python and C++ in a Linux/Unix environment and familiarity with Perl. Software engineering experience and an interest in biological applications are both a plus.
